The Privacy Act sets out standards that Smile needs to follow in terms of collecting, storing, using, disclosing, protect and transferring of personal information. The Privacy Act was passed by the Government in 1988 to cover the handling of credit reports and credit information and applies to all businesses (such as Smile) that uses such information.
Under the Privacy Act, Smile only collects information that supports a loan application and will not disclose your personal information to a third party without your consent or discuss or speak about your information with anyone outside of work.
Smile also maintains an obligation to store your information in a secure place to prevent access by unauthorized personnel and require your consent should Smile like to use your information for any internal marketing purposes.
